Once they establish this connection, they falsely claim that a moisture test in the loft is necessary, citing concerns about insulation quality and safety. They then provide misinformation, suggesting that your existing insulation could cause damage or is illegal. The final hook? Offering alternative insulation or ventilation systems at grossly inflated prices.
A particularly disturbing aspect of this scam is its focus on the elderly. Scammers are using public databases to target older individuals, exploiting their trust and, often, limited knowledge about these matters.
